A Very Merry Half-Birthday, Indeed.
Just a quick one this morning as we have a very important half- birthday to celebrate. When your only lad has a mud-season birthday, celebration options are pretty limited. So a few years ago, we started celebrating half birthdays. September is much kinder weather wise than March. We don’t do presents, but we do have adventures… and cake. There must be cake.
Usually it’s pretty low key; this year the stars lined up in such a way that he’s had a truly epic half birthday weekend. We went hiking, explored tidal pools, took an island day trip to visit some of our dearest people, hiked some more, went apple picking with friends, and had a Sunday night campfire sing a long. He fell asleep early during that last one. I think we kind of worn him out. None of it was planned necessarily, it just sort of fell into place. I think the universe still feels bad for sending everyone into lock down right before his 5th birthday party.
Today we’re going to play hooky from homeschool and have a sweet half-birthday adventure with some buddies. And then cake. Most definitely cake.
I hope your Monday brings sweetness and adventures your way as well.
Love it!! Matt’s July bday meant no school treats with friends, so his teacher started half birthdays. Matt and Emma’s half bdays are in January, and Matt’s is Jan. 22nd!
